Psykiatri convicted of murdering wife demands over €400,000 from her estate
A Helsinki psychiatrist serving a life sentence for the murder of his wife is suing her estate for more than €400,000, Finnish public broadcaster Yle reports.
Roope Bob Tikkanen, 51, filed the claim in Helsinki District Court in March, citing a debt agreement tied to a joint property purchase in 2021. The demand includes €390,000 in principal, approximately €24,500 in interest, and additional legal costs.
The claim stems from a 2021 real estate transaction in Porvoo’s archipelago, where Tikkanen and his wife purchased a €750,000 property. Though jointly owned, Tikkanen secured the financing alone through a bank loan. A debt instrument, signed at the time, recorded his wife’s obligation to repay half the property’s value plus transfer tax by July 2024.
Tikkanen was convicted of murdering his wife in their Ullanlinna home in December 2022. Both the district court and court of appeal upheld the life sentence, though he has sought leave to appeal to the Supreme Court.
