A man detained at Vágar Airport on suspicion of smuggling drugs has been released after authorities confirmed he was carrying around 100 grams of hashish, Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.

Customs officials grew suspicious of the man, who is not a Faroese citizen, upon his arrival. He was later scanned at the national hospital, where the drugs were discovered.

Police believe the quantity exceeds personal use and suspect links to criminal networks in the Faroe Islands. The investigation remains ongoing. The man was released late yesterday evening.
