A planned strike by Icelandic maritime unions will halt cargo ship traffic between Iceland and the Faroe Islands starting Sunday night, Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.

The strike, set to begin at midnight on Sunday and last until at least April 15, will affect three Eimskip vessels serving the Faroes: Dettifoss, Brúarfoss, and Selfoss. A separate work stoppage by dockworkers at Eimskip is also scheduled from April 13 to 15.

Contract negotiations between the Icelandic seafarers’ unions and Eimskip collapsed at the turn of the year. According to Icelandic media, no agreement has been reached in nearly two years.
