Second diver dies following Valkeakoski underwater accident
A diving accident in Valkeakoski, Finland, has now claimed two lives after police confirmed on Tuesday that a second diver involved in the incident has died in hospital.
The tragedy occurred on Saturday, 28 March, when two unresponsive individuals wearing diving gear were found in Mallasvesi lake near Valkeakoski church. According to a police statement, one diver was pronounced dead last Thursday despite resuscitation attempts. The second diver, who had been hospitalised, has now also died.
Both divers were from outside the local area and were born in the 1980s and 1990s. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of death, though further details will not be disclosed as the inquiry is legally confidential.
