Ryanair, the low-cost airline, has removed its winter flights from Lappeenranta to Bergamo, Italy, from its sales schedule. Customers who purchased tickets for flights after November have been informed of the cancellations. However, neither the city of Lappeenranta nor the airport’s CEO has received any official notification from the airline regarding this matter. Currently, the last day Ryanair is scheduled to operate flights from Lappeenranta to Bergamo is November 1. The agreement for these flights is valid until the end of March 2025.

Official information is still awaited. Janne Paananen, the operational director at Lappeenranta airport, stated via email that the airport has not received any communication from the airline. “In such cases, the airline is always the first to report any changes. Our current contract with them remains valid and also covers the upcoming winter season,” Paananen wrote.

Ding Ma, the city’s vitality director and CEO of the Saimaa Airport Foundation, mentioned that Lappeenranta will investigate the situation. “The root causes of the cancellations must be examined and thoroughly negotiated with the airline,” stated Ma.

Ryanair operates flights twice a week between Lappeenranta and Bergamo, making it the only commercial airline serving the Lappeenranta route.
