The Faroese fishing boat Norðfinnur ran aground inside the breakwater at Miðvágur harbour but is currently stable, with no immediate danger, according to the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC).

Andreas Gaardlykke, watch leader at MRCC, confirmed that the vessel is firmly positioned on sand at low tide, posing no risk. The crew attempted to free the boat themselves but were unsuccessful. They are now waiting for high tide in hopes that Norðfinnur will refloat naturally.

The vessel is owned by Reiðaríið Vesturbúgvin, a Faroese fishing company. A video of the grounding, recorded by Uni Leitisstein Hansen, has been shared by local broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.
