Swedish roads are facing one of the busiest periods of the year as Easter travellers hit the highways, with last year’s holiday weekend recording over 400 injuries—the highest figure in six years, reports SVT Nyheter.

The Swedish Transport Administration has warned drivers to exercise extra caution, citing increased traffic volumes and a corresponding rise in accidents. “Take it slow,” urged Felicia Danielsson, the agency’s press spokesperson, in a live update.

Travellers are advised to check for roadworks via the Transport Administration’s online tool, which lists ongoing construction projects across the country. Weather alerts from the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) are also available for those planning journeys.

Easter consistently ranks among the most intense travel periods in Sweden, with higher collision rates compared to regular weekends. Authorities have not yet released real-time incident reports for this year’s holiday.
