Car crashes into XXL store in Hønefoss
A driver crashed through the wall of an XXL sporting goods store in Hønefoss, Ringerike, on Wednesday, according to Norwegian police. No injuries were reported.
Police and emergency services responded to the scene after reports that a vehicle had driven into the store, the South-Eastern Norway Police District confirmed to news agency NTB. Operations manager Lise Bjørnsund stated that authorities were assisting those involved but that it was too early to determine the cause.
“There is no suspicion of drunk driving at this time,” Bjørnsund said.
Jan Christian Thommesen, communications director for XXL, confirmed to newspaper Dagbladet that the incident occurred at their Hønefoss location. “A car has driven into the warehouse. Fire services and police are on site, and the affected section of the store has been closed off,” he said, adding that no one was injured.
Photos from the scene show the vehicle embedded in the store’s exterior wall.
