Carbfix seeks investors for ambitious projects despite public opposition in Hafnarfjörður
Carbfix is still on the hunt for investors, having been actively seeking financial backers for over a year without finding any willing participants. The company’s CEO, Edda Sif Pind Aradóttir, mentions that discussions with potential investors are progressing well, although no commitments have yet been made.
Aradóttir emphasized the need for careful selection in bringing on new investors, stating that the company hopes to find minority owners who can provide not only capital but also expertise. She downplayed any concerns regarding investor hesitancy, noting, “There is a process of financing new solutions, new value chains, and new types of projects. Therefore, it is not unusual for such processes to take time.”
In the meantime, concerns have emerged around Carbfix’s proposed project near Hafnarfjörður, where plans are in place to build an injection facility, which has faced opposition from the public. However, Aradóttir clarified that this project has not hindered the search for new shareholders, explaining, “The Coda Terminal project in Hafnarfjörður is just one of the projects we are preparing. The ongoing environmental assessment discussions related to that project have not had an impact, at least not as things stand.”
As Carbfix continues its discussions, the emphasis remains on sustainable development and innovative solutions in environmental projects, consistent with its mission to contribute significantly to climate change mitigation efforts.
