Finland transitions to summer speed limits on roads
Finland’s road network will begin shifting to summer speed limits starting Tuesday, with the change rolling out gradually across the country, reports national broadcaster Yle.
The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency (Väylävirasto) announced that southern Finland will adopt the higher limits immediately, while northern regions, including Lapland, will follow from next Wednesday. Regional centres for economic development, transport, and the environment may delay the transition if local conditions—such as unpredictable spring weather—require it.
Drivers are advised to remain cautious, as varying road and weather conditions may persist. The agency also reminded motorists to ensure their tyre choices are suitable for the season.
