Workers from Ístak engaged in intensive construction efforts yesterday and today, pouring the first segment of a bridge over the Hornafjarðarfljót river. The completion of the second segment is anticipated in approximately three months. About 90 individuals participated in the concrete work, which lasted for just over 24 hours.

The bridge will ultimately measure around 250 meters in length. Of this, more than 140 meters were cast yesterday. The operation began at 2:00 PM and concluded around midday today. Aron Örn Karlsson, the project manager for Ístak in Hornafjörður, reported that the work proceeded according to plan.

Extensive roadworks are currently underway in Hornafjörður, where four bridges are being constructed simultaneously. The new routes will shorten the main ring road by twelve kilometers. The total cost of the project is approximately 9 billion Icelandic krónur. A substantial amount of materials was used, including about 1,200 cubic meters of concrete and 90 tons of steel for the bridge.

With these developments, the infrastructure improvements in this fishing town are set to enhance connectivity and accessibility in the region. The construction teams are working diligently to ensure that the project stays on schedule and meets the tight deadlines set for completion.
