Authorities in southeastern Finland are continuing the search for drone fragments in Luumäki after parts were discovered scattered across a hillside, Finnish public broadcaster Yle reports. The operation is expected to conclude by nightfall on Tuesday.

Police, border guards, and defence forces have cordoned off an area between Väliväyläntie road and Liivalahti on Lake Tervajärvi while divers inspect the water for possible debris. Two drones fell in southeastern Finland on Sunday—one north of Kouvola and another in Luumäki.

Senior Detective Jukka Lankinen of the Southeast Finland Police Department confirmed that all visible fragments found in the terrain have been collected, though no distinct crash site has been identified. “The parts were spread over a fairly wide area,” Lankinen stated, adding that no significant impact marks were observed.

Search efforts on land concluded Monday, allowing residents to move freely again, but underwater inspections remain underway. “Divers are verifying whether any parts are in the lake,” Lankinen said. “So far, nothing drone-related has been found in the water.”

The goal is to recover all possible debris by Tuesday evening, though Lankinen acknowledged that smaller pieces may go unnoticed. He assured that no hazardous materials are believed to remain in the area. Anyone finding suspected drone parts later has been instructed to avoid touching them and to report sightings to the emergency number 112.

The Southeast Finland Police Department leads the investigation, with defence force divers assisting as official support.
