Norwegians can expect dramatic shifts in Easter weather, with temperatures possibly dropping from spring-like warmth to snow by Friday, meteorologists warn.

According to a report by Dagbladet, Marek Ratajczak of the Norwegian Meteorological Institute described the week’s forecast as “very varied,” with rapid swings between sunshine and snowfall possible across the country.

“It may go from 10–15°C on Wednesday to snow on Friday,” Ratajczak said, though he stressed that conditions from Thursday onward remain uncertain due to shifting low-pressure systems.

The week divides into two distinct phases. Until Wednesday, a low-pressure system moving along the coast of Western and Northern Norway will bring heavy rain, wind, and storm warnings for the northern regions. Eastern and Southern Norway, however, will enjoy sunny skies and mild spring temperatures.

From midweek, the low-pressure systems are expected to shift southward toward Southern Norway and Sweden, bringing grey skies and colder air. Snowfall may return even at lower elevations, similar to conditions seen earlier this week.

Temperatures will drop nationwide, with most regions seeing single-digit highs and parts of Northern Norway experiencing sub-zero conditions around the clock.

Ratajczak summarised the outlook as “fairly distributed” for all regions, with a mix of sun and precipitation—but cautioned that the forecast could still change.
