Finland’s largest trade union confederation calls for criminalisation of wage underpayment
The Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions (SAK) is pushing to crack down on labour market crimes, including making wage underpayment a criminal offence, it announced on Tuesday in its policy goals for the next parliamentary term.
According to SAK, trade unions should be granted the right to bring legal action to combat labour market violations. The organisation criticised the current government for strengthening employer power while weakening the position of both employees and the unemployed.
SAK demanded that the next parliament restore trust in labour market relations. Its proposals come ahead of Finland’s upcoming general election.
