Large boulder blocks road between Viðareiði and Hvannasund

A large boulder fell onto the road connecting Viðareiði and Hvannasund late Sunday, forcing authorities to deploy heavy machinery to remove it, reports Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

The incident occurred just north of Hvannasund, with the rock so substantial that specialised equipment was required to clear the roadway.

In unrelated traffic enforcement, police in the capital Tórshavn issued four charges during a late-night checkpoint. One driver was cited for operating a vehicle without a licence, refusing to identify themselves, and suspected drug possession. The individual was also charged with driving under the influence.
