Danish footballers have swapped the pitch for the stage, performing ballet at Copenhagen’s Royal Theatre in a unique cultural crossover, reports Danish broadcaster DR.

The players, including members of the national team, took part in a special event called On Away Ground, where they trained alongside professional ballet dancers. The initiative aims to challenge stereotypes about athletes and artists while promoting collaboration between sports and culture.

During the performance, the footballers executed basic ballet movements under the guidance of the Royal Danish Ballet’s instructors. The event was organised as part of a broader campaign to encourage creativity and physical expression beyond traditional sports.

The Royal Theatre, Denmark’s premier performing arts institution, has previously hosted similar cross-disciplinary projects, though this marks the first time professional footballers have participated in a ballet production on its historic stage.
