Seinäjoki apartment fire investigated as crime after suspect dies from injuries
Finnish police are investigating a deadly apartment fire in Seinäjoki as a suspected drug manufacturing operation and aggravated endangerment, public broadcaster Yle reports.
The fire broke out on March 25 in the Kasperi district of Seinäjoki, western Finland. Two men in their 30s from the city are suspected in connection with the case.
One suspect, who was inside the apartment during the fire, suffered severe burns and later died from his injuries. Police state he was suspected of both drug-related offences and aggravated endangerment, but no charges will be brought against him due to his death.
The second suspect, who was not present at the scene when the fire started, remains in custody. Investigators believe the apartment was being used to produce illegal drugs, though the exact cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
