Norwegian meteorologists are advising residents to pack for all conditions as this year’s Easter forecast includes rain, snow, wind, sun, and overcast skies—often within the same region, Dagbladet reports.

According to Eldbjørg Moxnes, duty meteorologist at the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, low-pressure systems will dominate much of the holiday period, bringing rapid shifts in weather. “Generally, we’re looking at changeable conditions, with low-pressure systems moving in and out,” Moxnes told the newspaper.

The western region is expected to see the most precipitation, while eastern areas may experience slightly drier conditions due to shelter from mountain ranges. However, prolonged sunshine is unlikely anywhere in the country. “No one will get consistently nice weather for multiple days in a row,” Moxnes said, though she noted that even the rainiest regions, like Western Norway, should see at least one sunny day.

In mountainous areas—particularly in the west—precipitation will likely fall as snow, though existing snowpack remains minimal across most of the country. Central Norway can expect a mix of rain and occasional clear spells, while Northern Norway will see passing low-pressure systems interspersed with sunny periods. Temperatures in the far north will hover just above freezing during the day, dipping below at night, raising the possibility of snow even at lower elevations.

Moxnes urged those traveling within Norway to prepare for wind, sudden snow flurries, and fluctuating conditions. “It won’t be consistently terrible weather, but it won’t be consistently great either,” she cautioned.
