The Faroese Broadcasting Corporation (KVF) reports that Bjørg Brynhildardóttir Egholm, a 20-year-old candidate for the left-wing Republic party (Tjóðveldi), has become the youngest member elected to the Faroese Parliament in modern times.

Egholm secured a top position on the party’s list after campaigning on youth issues, stating: “The youth have spoken.” Her message resonated strongly with young voters, propelling her to the forefront of the Republic party’s candidates in the 2026 parliamentary election.

Her election marks a significant shift in Faroese politics, with younger voices gaining influence in the national legislature, known locally as the Løgting.
