Early voting for the Faroe Islands’ parliamentary elections opened Thursday with strong participation, as voters in the capital Tórshavn cast their ballots at Hoyvíkshøllin, reports Faroese national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

The first session of advance voting saw a steady stream of residents from the Hvítanesi district, with Annemi Lund Joensen among those who voted early. Election officials noted that one polling station in Tórshavn Municipality had to be relocated, but the change did not disrupt the process.

Voters will have multiple opportunities to cast ballots before the official election day, with polling stations open for three rounds of advance voting. The high initial turnout suggests strong engagement in this year’s race for the Løgting, the Faroese parliament.
