Faroese political candidates enjoy rare moment of calm before election day
With the Faroese parliamentary election just hours away, two prominent candidates have taken a rare break from campaigning to relax at home, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
Annita á Fríðriksmørk and Kaj Leo Holm Johannesen, both running in the upcoming Løgting (Faroese Parliament) election, welcomed a morning news crew into their home on Wednesday, sharing how they are using the final hours before polls open to unwind.
“I’m actually quite balanced when I think about these election posters, and it’s fantastic not to have to have an opinion,” Johannesen said, with á Fríðriksmørk in full agreement. She added that her stress levels this year are far lower than in past elections when she herself was a candidate.
The two reflected on the intensity of the campaign trail while offering advice to first-time voters set to enter the polling station later in the day. “We remember the election battles and election days—and most importantly, we have good tips for those who, in a short while, will step through the doors of parliament for the first time,” they said.
