Faroe Islands parliamentary election opens with 160 candidates across seven parties

The Faroe Islands’ parliamentary election begins today at 10:00 local time, with 160 candidates running on seven party lists, reports Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

Women make up 38.75 percent of the candidates, with 62 female nominees. Voter turnout in the 2022 election reached 88.06 percent. Polling stations will remain open until 20:00 this evening.
