Three Faroese political parties that lost ground in last year’s parliamentary election are optimistic that voters will return to them in Wednesday’s general election, reports Faroese national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

Fólkaflokkurin (People’s Party), Tjóðveldi (Republic), and Miðflokkurin (Centre Party) all saw declines in the 2025 election. Fólkaflokkurin received 15 percent of the vote—down 0.5 percentage points from 2022—while Tjóðveldi fell by 4.8 points to 13.4 percent. Miðflokkurin dropped most sharply, from 4.5 percent in 2022 to just 1.5 percent last year.

Party leaders expressed confidence in regaining support. Beinir Johannesen of Fólkaflokkurin, Sirið Stenberg of Tjóðveldi, and Jenis av Rana of Miðflokkurin all indicated they expect voters to return, though specific projections were not provided.

The Faroese general election for the Løgting (parliament) takes place on Wednesday.
