A 24-year-old Danish man has been physically assaulted for the second time in a year due to his sexual orientation, reports national broadcaster DR.
Nicolaj, who prefers not to disclose his last name, was attacked on Friday evening in central Copenhagen. The assailant used homophobic slurs before striking him in the face, according to the victim’s account to DR.
This is the second such incident Nicolaj has experienced. Last year, he was also assaulted in a separate case linked to his sexuality. He told DR that he now fears for his safety in public spaces and is considering legal action.
Police have confirmed they are investigating the latest attack as a hate crime.
