Residents of the Laugarnes neighborhood are expressing significant dissatisfaction due to dust pollution believed to be from the demolition of the old headquarters of Íslandsbanki. One local resident, Árni Klemensson, stated that he remains uncertain about how long the demolition work will continue.

The old Íslandsbanki building on Kirkjusand in Reykjavík has been non-operational and empty for about eight years, leading to frustration among nearby residents. The demolition began in early February and is ongoing.

Recently, residents have noticed fine dust accumulating in the area, which they attribute to the construction activities. Árni reported experiencing considerable disturbance from the work, alongside the new issue of dust covering his vehicle. He mentioned taking his car for cleaning to prevent it from being scratched by the dust particles lingering in the neighborhood.

Despite the ongoing construction and dust concerns, there is no clear end date for the demolition work as concerns continue to mount among the community.
