Newly released images show the moment voters in the Faroe Islands delivered a historic victory to Sjúrður Skaale, who secured 10,823 votes in the parliamentary election, reports Kringvarp Føroya.
Photographer Bjarni Árting Rubeksen documented the election day, capturing scenes from polling stations across the islands, including Hoyvíkshøllin hall and Skúlin á Argjahamri school in Runavík. The images show voters casting ballots in what became a record-breaking result for Skaale, who received more votes than any other candidate in the election.
Skaale’s victory marked the highest individual vote count in the Faroese parliamentary election, with his support in Klaksvík alone surpassing the total votes for the entire People’s Party in the same district.
