The Union Party has taken a clear lead in the Faroese parliamentary election, with early results suggesting party leader Sjúrður Skaale and fellow candidate Anna Falkenberg are poised to secure seats, national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.

Skaale has already received over 3,000 votes—with ballots from the capital Tórshavn still uncounted—while Falkenberg has surpassed 1,800 votes. Høgni Hoydal, in third place for the party, holds just over 300 votes.

Political analyst Flóvin Eidesgaard did not rule out the possibility of both Skaale and the rival Social Democratic Party winning two seats each, though he called it unlikely given the Union Party’s strong performance. No other party is currently positioned to challenge the two leading factions.

The final distribution of seats will depend on the remaining uncounted votes.
