Sjúrður Skaale, leader of the Faroese Social Democratic Party (Javnaðarflokkurin), has suffered a major setback in the Faroese parliamentary election, securing just 13% support despite earlier polls suggesting 40%, public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.

Skaale had publicly dismissed pre-election surveys—including those conducted by Spyr.fo for FM1, Portal.in, and Kringvarp Føroya—as flawed and damaging. However, as final results came in, his party’s performance fell drastically short of projections, leaving him trailing behind rivals.

The outcome puts Skaale at risk of losing one of the party’s two seats in the Faroese Parliament (Løgtingið), an unprecedented setback. His personal vote share collapsed to 13%, a sharp decline from the 40% suggested by earlier polling.
