A bakery in the Faroe Islands is offering election-themed cakes as an informal way to gauge voter preferences ahead of this week’s parliamentary elections, reports Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

Miðberg bakery in Saltangará has created cakes representing the major political parties contesting the Faroese Parliament (Løgtingið) and Danish Folketing elections. Anna Rasmussen, a baker at Miðberg, confirmed that while all the cakes are equally sweet, the number sold may reflect current political dynamics.

“We can certainly say that more People’s Party cakes have been sold than Social Democratic ones,” Rasmussen said, though she noted there had also been steady demand for the Social Democratic cakes.

The cakes are designed to be visually distinct and clearly labelled, turning the bakery into an unofficial polling station as voters pick their preferred party—literally—off the shelf.
