Election officials on the Faroese island of Sandur anticipate a strong voter turnout for the upcoming parliamentary election, despite rough weather disrupting access to the polling station, Kringvarp Føroya reports.

Johanna Hansen, the presiding officer at Sandur’s polling station, confirmed to the Faroese national broadcaster that a storm is expected but noted that turnout has so far been good. “The weather has been decent enough that travel to the polling place hasn’t been too difficult,” she said.

Elin Højsted, deputy presiding officer, added that voter activity has been steady since the polls opened, comparing it to the last parliamentary election.

The polling station on Sandur is housed in the local library, which has seen consistent foot traffic throughout the day.
