Car chase ends with arrest on Gundadalsvegur in Tórshavn

Tuesday 23rd 2024 on 13:50 in
Faroe Islands

Last evening, shortly before 7 PM, a brief car chase ended on Gundadalsvegur in Tórshavn. The police managed to stop a vehicle that had initially evaded law enforcement.

The chase began at 6:51 PM and concluded at 6:55 PM.

The driver resisted arrest and is thus facing charges of assaulting police officers. Pepper spray was used against him during the arrest.

There were multiple reasons for the police’s interest in the man. Around half past six, it was reported that he had kicked in a door at a guesthouse in Tórshavn, although no one was inside the room at the time.

Additionally, he has been charged with reckless driving. He drove against traffic on a one-way street, colliding with another vehicle, ran a red light, and was speeding.

The individual is in his forties, but the police have not disclosed whether he is a Faroese national or a foreign resident.
