Emergency rescue operation underway at Vantaa daycare centre
A rescue operation is currently in progress at the Kelokuusi daycare centre in Vantaa’s Myyrmäki district, according to Finnish newspaper Iltalehti. Emergency services, including an air ambulance, are on site.
Images and video published by the newspaper show rescue units and a medical helicopter at the location. Police are also present.
The Central Uusimaa Rescue Department declined to provide details about the operation to national broadcaster Yle, stating that information on emergency medical tasks would not be disclosed. The Eastern Uusimaa Police confirmed it is a rescue mission led by the rescue services but offered no further comment at this stage.
Virpi Tenhunen, the daycare centre’s director, told Yle she could not discuss the ongoing operation but confirmed that more information would be released later.
This is a developing story.
