Residents of Sund and Hvítanes in the Faroe Islands will vote at different locations in this week’s elections, public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports. For Tuesday’s parliamentary election, they must cast ballots at Hálsi Hall, while for Wednesday’s local election, they will vote at Hoyvík Hall.

The change follows a decision by Tórshavn Municipality earlier this year, approved by the national government, to designate Hoyvík as an independent polling station for local elections. After the 2022 parliamentary vote, Hoyvík was recognised as a standalone polling district.

Previously, voters in both areas used the same location for all elections. The adjustment means they must now travel to separate halls depending on whether they are participating in national or municipal voting.
