Faroese parliamentary election underway with 52 candidates

The Faroe Islands’ parliamentary election is taking place today, with five parties fielding a total of 52 candidates, reports Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

Voting stations opened at 9:00 AM and will remain open until 8:00 PM, with late arrivals permitted to cast ballots as long as they are in line by closing time. Of the 52 candidates, 17 are women and 35 are men.

A record 38,945 voters are eligible to participate—552 more than in the 2022 election, when turnout reached 71.31%. The Progressive Party and the Self-Government Party are not contesting this election.
