Faroe Islands faces shortage of municipal doctors as demand for services grows
The Faroese Medical Association has warned that too few municipal doctors are available to meet current and future demand, despite national health policy plans to expand services in the coming years, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
Under the government’s public health strategy, more municipal doctor positions are set to be established across the islands. However, the association states that even with existing roles, there are not enough physicians to fill them.
The warning follows a recent debate segment on the radio programme Degi og viku, where the shortage was highlighted as a pressing concern for local healthcare provision.
