The Faroese parliamentary election debate will be broadcast Monday evening on Tinggáttin, a political programme by national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya, ahead of Tuesday’s election.

Three main topics will dominate the discussion, hosted by Høgni í Jákupsstovu. Candidates will address rising crime and the role of Faroese representatives in police and judicial appointments, national security in an unstable global climate, and whether Faroese MPs should actively seek Danish funding for local projects or rely on domestic resources.

Five parties are contesting the election, down from six in 2022, with the Centre Party and Progress Party not participating this year. Voter turnout in 2022 reached 60%, with 38,945 eligible voters registered for 2026—an increase from 38,393 in the previous election. Polling stations remain unchanged at 57, though Hestur has been removed and Hoyvík reinstated.
