Mall of Tripla shopping centre introduces new public reminders of rules
The Mall of Tripla shopping centre in Helsinki’s Pasila district has begun displaying its code of conduct on digital screens, including bans on sleeping in public areas and using shopping trolleys for non-shopping purposes, Yle reports.
In an email to Yle, centre manager Hanna Heikkinen confirmed the rules were added to screens last week as part of ongoing efforts to maintain a “safe and pleasant environment for all visitors, tenants, and employees.” The 24/7 facility is Finland’s busiest shopping centre.
Heikkinen emphasised that the move was not a reaction to specific incidents but part of “proactive everyday management.” While recent months have seen public discussion about rising drug use and homelessness in the Helsinki region, she noted that the rules themselves are not new. Seven key points—including prohibitions on busking, loitering, and unauthorised commercial activity—were highlighted to reinforce existing guidelines.
The reminder about shopping trolleys aims to curb their removal from the premises, as they remain the property of grocery stores. “We want to encourage customers to return them to their proper place,” Heikkinen said.
Mall of Tripla’s full code of conduct has been available on its website since opening. The centre, which operates around the clock, serves as a major transit hub in Pasila, with high foot traffic at all hours.
