Fountain in Turku’s market square out of service due to technical issue

The popular fountain in Turku’s market square, which gained significant attention last summer, is currently out of service. Project manager Janne Laine explained that a small issue needs to be addressed. According to Laine, a minor connector in the fountain’s technical compartment has been leaking water. The cause of the connector’s failure remains unknown.

“We are waiting for the contractor to fix the fountain. In our view, this should be covered under warranty,” Laine noted. However, he could not provide any information regarding the repair schedule.

The fountain was inaugurated in September of last year and has been extremely popular during the summer heat, attracting many visitors when operational. Unfortunately, it has been non-functional for at least three days now. This is particularly unfortunate as Turku is expected to experience soaring temperatures in the upcoming days, with an extreme heat warning in effect in the region until Friday.

The fountain’s absence during peak summer days coincides with a forecast of continuing warm weather, highlighting the disappointment for local residents and tourists alike who flocked to the area to enjoy its refreshing water feature.
