Mild spring weather to continue early this week but snow may return by Easter
Early-week temperatures will remain warm across southern and central Finland, but meteorologists warn of a possible return to winter conditions by Easter, public broadcaster Yle reports.
Sunny and dry spring weather will persist at the start of the week, though conditions will soon turn more unstable, according to Yle meteorologist Elias Paakkanen. While sunshine is expected, the week will be noticeably wetter than previous periods.
Rainfall will remain light on Monday, affecting southern, eastern, and some northern regions by evening. By Tuesday night, precipitation will spread to western Finland, reaching nearly the entire country by Wednesday. Most areas will see rain, though northern regions may experience snow.
Southern and central Finland will see mild temperatures early in the week, with widespread sunshine on Tuesday pushing thermometers to around 8°C in sunny areas. Cloudier regions will see temperatures drop to roughly 5°C.
Northern Finland will also see a shift, with temperatures falling to between 1°C and 2°C by midweek—though conditions remain mild for the season.
Easter forecast points to snow
The week leading up to Easter is expected to be cooler than previous weeks, with daytime highs in central Finland hovering around 1–2°C. Sleet and snow showers are likely, with southern regions possibly seeing snowfall as well.
Current forecasts suggest a return to winter conditions over Easter, with southern Finland potentially receiving more snow than during Christmas. However, no prolonged sub-zero cold snap is expected, and temperatures should rise again after any precipitation.
Paakkanen cautions that the Easter forecast remains highly uncertain.
