Tórshavn city council rejects proposed bridge name despite committee recommendation
The Tórshavn city council has overruled the local street naming committee by rejecting its proposed name for a new bridge over Sandá river, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The committee had recommended naming the bridge connecting to Kirkjubøur Kirkjubøarbrúgv (Kirkjubøur Bridge), arguing that the name would help non-locals navigate correctly by indicating the road leads to Kirkjubøur. However, the council unanimously approved the name Müllers brúgv instead.
Both the committee and the council did agree on the name for another bridge over Sandá, which will be called Velbastaðarbrúgv (Velbastaður Bridge).
