Thousands gather in Copenhagen for large Eid celebration
A major Eid al-Fitr celebration drew thousands to Copenhagen’s Nørrebro district on Saturday, with organisers describing the event as a festival of “full hygge” and abundant food, Danish broadcaster DR reports.
The celebration, marking the end of Ramadan, featured communal meals, music, and activities for children. Volunteers prepared large quantities of traditional dishes, including lamb, rice, and sweets, served free to attendees throughout the day.
Local organisers emphasised the event’s role in fostering community spirit, with participants from diverse backgrounds joining the festivities. The gathering took place in a central square, where temporary seating and prayer spaces were set up for the occasion.
