Factory to relocate Norðborg shipyard

Kringvarp Føroya reports that the owners of the Norðborg shipyard in Tórshavn have decided to relocate the facility rather than expand the existing site.

The decision follows an assessment that upgrading the current location would cost up to 850 million Faroese kroner, prompting the owners to opt for a new construction instead.

Norðborg, currently situated along the western dock in the capital, will be vacated as all operations move to the new site. The shipyard Mest remains the primary contractor for the project.

In a segment for the programme Degi og vika, shipyard manager Jón Rasmussen outlined the planned relocation process.

The new facility will replicate the functions of the existing Norðborg shipyard, ensuring continuity of operations.
