Faroese municipal leaders gather for political debate ahead of elections
Around 200 municipal officials from across the Faroe Islands are attending a political forum today to discuss party platforms and future plans for the islands’ 29 local governments, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The event, organised by the Association of Faroese Municipalities (Kommunufelagið), brings together mayors, council leaders, and senior municipal administrators for debates on key issues. Topics include municipal infrastructure, elderly care cooperation, and the future role of local governments.
The day’s programme features a keynote address by Tórbjørn Jacobsen, chair of the association, with proceedings beginning at 13:00 local time.
All political parties represented in Faroese local government are participating in the forum, which serves as a precursor to upcoming municipal elections.
