Norway’s NRK secures exclusive interview with Crown Princess Mette-Marit on Epstein links
Norwegian public broadcaster NRK has obtained the first interview with Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Crown Prince Haakon regarding her contacts with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Dagbladet reports. The interview, conducted at the royal residence Skaugum on Thursday, will be published Friday, though its contents remain strictly confidential until then.
NRK’s veteran news anchor Petter Oulie-Hauge left Skaugum at 12:26 PM on Thursday after conducting the interview, which the Royal Court confirmed would address the crown princess’s “extensive contact” with Epstein. Both NRK and the palace kept the interview secret until media reports emerged later that day.
Sources told Dagbladet that only a select few within NRK were aware of the interview’s details, with the broadcaster working through the night to finalise the material. “We are working flat out in the newsroom to complete this, using the evening and night to prepare for broad publication,” said Sofie Gran Aspunvik, NRK’s editorial manager.
The interview comes after over 1,000 hours of public silence from the crown princess, despite repeated calls from Norwegian media—including Dagbladet—for an explanation. The Royal Court had previously declined interview requests before abruptly reversing course.
NRK has not disclosed the interview’s questions or Mette-Marit’s responses, adhering to its policy of not commenting on unpublished material. The broadcaster plans to announce the exact publication time on Friday morning.
