Newcomers to the Faroe Islands face difficulties accessing clear information about political parties and candidates, Faroese public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.

Eva Rasmussen, who recently moved to the Faroes and will vote in the country’s elections for the first time, describes the process of researching parties and their policies as confusing and unnecessarily complicated. Though she is learning Faroese as a second language at Glasi language school, she says even those without language barriers may find the system overwhelming.

Rasmussen highlights the challenge of navigating 160 candidates across multiple parties, noting that party websites quickly become disorienting. She relies on tools like ChatGPT to translate Faroese texts but calls for a centralised platform where all candidates and their positions are clearly presented.

“With so many parties and candidates, it’s not easy to find your way,” she said, questioning how those less motivated or curious might engage with the political process.
