Finland’s well-being services counties fail to meet deadline for clearing illegal specialist care queues
Several of Finland’s well-being services counties will not meet the April deadline to eliminate unlawfully long non-urgent specialist care waiting times, reports public broadcaster Yle, citing Uutissuomalainen.
The National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Valvira) had ordered the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS) and nine well-being services counties last October to resolve the backlogs by the end of April or face penalty payments. HUS and the Central Finland well-being services county have confirmed they will miss the target, while Kanta-Häme, North Karelia, and Southwest Finland remain uncertain about meeting the requirement.
