High demand for Faroese traditional boatbuilding courses
A decade-long evening course on Faroese boatbuilding has drawn over 100 participants, reflecting strong interest in preserving the craft as wooden boats decline in number, reports Faroese national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.
The Tórshavn Evening School has offered the course for 10 years, teaching traditional Faroese boat construction. Recently, students completed a new five-man rowing boat, adding to the fleet of handcrafted vessels.
Interest remains high despite the dwindling number of wooden boats across the Faroe Islands, with more than 100 people having enrolled in the evening classes over the past decade.
