The Norwegian government convened an unscheduled, classified meeting at the Royal Palace in Oslo on Wednesday, attended by multiple cabinet ministers, VG reports.

A spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed to Dagbladet that an “extraordinary meeting” took place, but declined to provide details. “A classified matter was discussed. Therefore, no official statement will be released from the Council of State,” said Anne Kristin Hjukse, head of communications for the Prime Minister’s Office.

Hjukse did not disclose which ministers participated. The meeting was not listed on the royal family’s official schedule, though both King Harald and Crown Prince Haakon were present, according to the palace’s published program.

The Council of State is the formal weekly meeting where the government, led by the monarch, makes key decisions—typically held every Friday at the palace. Wednesday’s session marks a rare departure from this routine.

When asked for comment, the Royal Palace referred inquiries back to the Prime Minister’s Office.
