Wages in the Faroe Islands increased by 7.1% over the past year, reaching a total of 13.7 billion krona, according to figures reported by national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya and analysed by the Faroese statistics agency Hagstova.

The data covers gross wages subject to income tax (A-tax) from March 2025 to February 2026, compared to the same period a year earlier. The sharpest rise was seen in the bottom-trawl fishing sector, where wages and salaries surged by 55% over the 12-month period.

Other sectors with significant wage growth included general public administration, health and social services, and public welfare benefits tied to legal requirements. The highest regional increase was recorded in Sandoy, where wages rose by nearly 16%.
