Eastern Norway can expect a taste of spring this week, with temperatures climbing toward 14°C (57°F) by midweek, according to forecasts from the international weather service Meteored, as reported by Dagbladet.

Marit Kollstuen, duty meteorologist at the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, confirmed that areas around Oslo, Akershus, and Hadeland will see the mildest conditions from Wednesday onward. “Within Oslo and Akershus, it looks like it could get quite mild starting Wednesday,” Kollstuen said. Østfold is also expected to experience warmer weather.

The week begins with rain across eastern Norway, along with low clouds and fog, while western regions face showers. Northern areas, particularly north of Stadt, will see fair weather early in the week before precipitation—falling as snow in mountainous regions—arrives by Tuesday.

From Thursday, a high-pressure system is forecast to bring clearer skies to eastern Norway, though Kollstuen noted that stable weather could lead to fog. While no heavy rainfall is expected, she cautioned that fog remains unpredictable.

Northern Norway will stay colder, with potential snow showers in Nordland, Troms, and Finnmark over the weekend. Meanwhile, western Norway is set for more sunshine than the east, with only occasional rain showers expected. “If western Norway gets this fine weather now, there might be a rain shower in between, but as it looks now, it will be quite nice there,” Kollstuen added.

Despite the warmer spell, Kollstuen warned against assuming an early spring. “Here in the north, it’s not unusual to get a ‘false spring’—it may seem like spring has arrived, but that’s not necessarily the case.” She emphasized that seasonal variations, including wet periods in western Norway and fog in the east, remain typical for this time of year.
